His love for car racing started with karting competitions. Davidson began kart racing in 1987, participating in various British, European and North American championships. From the year 1999, he moved to cars. He competed in racing Formula Fords and won the Kent county class of the British Formula Ford festival that year. Apart from this, he also won the Formula Three Pau Grand Prix, the Spa Masters and the FIA European Cup.
At first Davidson was not given the chance to compete as driver in the race of year 2003. He was the test driver at British American Racing (BAR) alongside Takuma Sato. But when Sato got promoted to the race team, Davidson got his golden opportunity to become third driver. After that there was no looking back for Anthony Davidson.
