Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix is a popular Formula One Race. Ii is a Formula;a One Championship race which first occurred at Bahrain International Circuit in the year 2004 on 4th April. The main sponsor of Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix is Gulf Air, who has been sponsoring since 2004. it is the first Formula One Grand Prix in Middle East. Bahrain has to fight a fierce battle with Lebanon, Egypt and United Arab Emirates, to host this event at Bahrain. The inaugural race of Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix was awarded the 'Best Organised Grand Prix' by FIA.


Right from the start, Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix is the third race in the calendar of Formula One, except the season of 2006. in that year, it swapped with Australian Grand Prix. This was due to the Commonwealth games which clashed with the usual date of this race.

It was announced in 23rd July, 2007, that Bahrain would again be the venue for the inaugural event for 2008, but, Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix returned to its usual position as the third race of season, in the calendar of 2008, as released by FIA. It is expected that the new Yas Island Circuit, which is in Abu Dhabi, will take over the role of inauguration in the coming year, 2009.



There are special characteristics of Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix. The giant run off areas is the main criticism, for which the drivers who fail to stay on the track are not punished. But this made Bahrain, one of the most safest tracks of world. It is looked after that there is no sand in the race tracks. Another interesting feature of Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix is that the drivers spray Waard, a non alcoholic rose water drink on the podium instead of champagne, though alcoholic beverages are legal in Bahrain.
