Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix is a popular Formula One Race. It included itself in the Formula One Championship in the year 1999. Now, the venue of Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix is at Sepang International Circuit, the hyper modern one at Sepang in Malaysia.

The Formula 2 Grand Prix at Thomson Road Circuit in Singapore is regarded as the start of Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix, at the time when Singapore was a part of Malaysian Federation from the year 1963 to 1965. after the expulsion of Singapore from the federation in the year 1965, the Grand Prix continued till 1973. in between this period, Malaysia was a host for a number of racing tournaments in the Shah Alam Circuit.


The nine world Championship of Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix have seen action in both on and off the track. The weather during the tournament was varying, one time, tropical stormy weather and the other time, furnace heat. This added the extra needed spice to the race. The most notable event of Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix was the inaugural event of 1999. it also witnessed the return on Michael Schumacher after his leg injury at the British Grand Prix of that year.

From 2001, Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix has become the beginning of the schedule, which have seen topsy-turvy results.



The sponsor of Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix is Petronas from the year 1999 till today. Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher have been the repeated winners in Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix in the year 2004 and 2007.

The support races of Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix are Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and Formula BMW Asia. Mario Theissen, BMW Motorsport director presented the trophies to the winners of the 2003 race.
