1950 is definitely a major landmark in the history of Formula One as in 1950, the FIA chalked out the first plan for an international level car racing event which came to be known as World Championship. And, with the winning of Pau Grand Prix by Juan Manuel Fangio on 10th April 1950 and with the hosting of the British Grand Prix by Silverstone, F1 World Championship was born. In the Early Years of Formula One, Belgium, Swiss and Italian races used to dominate the Formula One but it was Fangio from Argentina who actually topped the first decade of Formula One.
He had won five World Championships for five different car manufacturers and he is regarded as the most consistent performer from 1954- 57. Mercedes withdrew from this car racing events after experiencing a horrific multi car accident at the 1955 Le Mans. Fangio had a narrow escape in this event and according to the official record, 85 people died in that accident. And, Fangio moved on to Ferrari. This accident is surely a scar on the Early Years of Formula One.
