Formula One Qualifying Sessions

Formula One has evolved over the years as the most popular sport and it is not just any man’s sport as it could be said here that that drivers or the people, who take part in this sport are highly skilled and are very well acquainted with the nuances, the rules, regulations and the other necessary aspects that are an integral part of this sport. It could also be said here that the Formula One Qualifying Sessions are an important part of the Formule One.

The Formula One Qualifying Sessions take place on a Saturday at 14.00 and it is the Formula One Qualifying Sessions that help in determining the running order at the start of the race that takes place on a Sunday. As far as the year 2006 is concerned, it is to be noted here that the qualifying system that included a single lap, which has been used in the last few years has been replaced by a three-part knockout format, with many cars on track.


It is also required to state here that the qualifying hour is divided into three hours with three sessions that lasts for 15 minutes and each of the 15 minute sessions includes in itself seven minute breaks. At the first session all the cars that is 22 of them are allowed to run laps at any time according to the will of the driver and the lowest six cars are given the grid places that is from 17 through 22. The lap time is reset once gain for the second session and this second session witnesses the 16 cars at one time and the lowest six cars of the second session are given the places from 11 through 16. The last as well as the final qualifying session is a sort of a shootout amongst the last final ten cars to determine the first ten positions and the drivers of the last cars are offered an open challenge that is the drivers should start the last 15 minute session with the load of the full fuel, with which they would start the race on Sunday.



Weighing would be done before the cars start off from the pits and the fuel that would get used up in the last session would be replaced, once the last session gets over. The car that travels at the fastest speed is given the front of the grid position that is the car would be on the pole position.

There are no restrictions as far as the number of laps of the Formula One Qualifying Sessions are concerned.
